The advance class includes purple, green, brown, and black. Here you start to put the finishing details on your building by smoothing and polishing the basic techniques, while learning how they may be applied to life.

History

Wado Ryu karate, meaning “Way of Harmony,” was founded by Hironori Ohtsuka in 1934. Ohtsuka, a life long martial artist, combined his study of Shotokan karate, Shindo Yoshin ryu jujutsu, and other styles to create a distinct style emphasizing natural, flowing movements and evasive techniques. Wado Ryu is know for speed, fluidity, and emphasis on self-defense applications, including throws and joint locks.

“I took Wado Ryu karate classes with Mr. Carter for several years as a young boy. Karate helped me with confidence, coordination, flexibility and self-discipline that would serve me in other sports and areas of my life later on. My son August and I take classes with Mr. Burgess today and we are enjoying the same great benefits. It’s a great way to stay in shape, have fun and learn the best ways to protect yourself. I highly recommend.”
